The folks at PETA definitely know how to grab attention. In Providence, Rhode Island, Friday, two PETA girls showed up at a gas station in 37 degree weather dressed in bikinis made of lettuce.
Why, you ask? They were handing out Tofurky (a brand of vegetarian turkey replacement) sandwiches and urging gas station visitors to stop eating meat. Just for trying the food, the gorgeous greenies would buy drivers two gallons of gas. At nearly four dollars a gallon, that was a pretty convincing deal!
PETA has been shipping their lettuce-clad ladies all over the country for several years, urging folks to go vegan and save animals from being slaughtered.
At least one guy in Providence said he would give up meat after hearing the girls' spiel. But he didn't say it to their faces-- he was too busy checking out their veggies!!
