Meet The 'Girls': Jemima Kirke

Jemima KirkeThis is the story of four girlfriends, picked to live in Brooklyn and have their lives (and loves) taped, to find out what happens when women stop buying Manolos and start getting real.

Yes, this is the (mostly) real world...according to Lena Dunham, the brains behind HBO's buzzy new series "Girls." Co-starring Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet, the show focuses on the trials and tribulations of living and loving in New York City—without the glitzy trappings of that other sexy city series. In anticipation of Sunday's premiere, we're introducing you to the fresh female faces of "Girls," and today, Jemima is the one to watch.

Who she is: Much like co-stars Allison and Zosia, Jemima is a card-carrying member of the Daughters of Famous Fathers Club—her dad is Bad Company drummer Simon Kirke. The 27-year-old was born in London but grew up in New York, attending high school with Lena. She now lives in Brooklyn with her husband and daughter.

What she's done: An artist by trade, Jemima's racked up a few screen credits of late, thanks in large part to pal Lena who cast her in the 2010 indie "Tiny Furniture."

Jessa according to Jemima: "She is a free spirit with no direction, so she's not really free."
