"I don’t consider myself sexy," dismisses Ellen Adarna, latest FHM covergirl. "Hindi ako sexy in real life." She clearly is not taking the tag "2012’s Sexiest" seriously, but of course, all those who bought the magazine disagree.
Ellen, ex castaway of "Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown," also doesn’t believe there’s a part of her that is sexy, and readily admits that like most girls, her tummy area is her problem. She attributes her sultry look to being the result of knowing her angle and the magic of make-up. "I also exercise," she adds, "I do Muay Thai and plyometrics."
She seems to be nonchalant about the subject of her hotness. Talk to her about "Survivor" though and the feisty Cebuana is suddenly alert.
She enumerates the persons she doesn’t like to win in the show. Ellen does not mince words in describing the castoffs who have caught her ire, and, she is not afraid to be quoted. "Hindi kami ok at hindi na kami magiging ok," she says with finality about Philippine Volcano Rugby member Arnold Aninion. "Tinawag niya kaming f_cking b_tch sa island pero hindi pinakita sa TV. Tapos sinabihan pa kami ni Chopper na hindi raw kami sisikat. Mag sex tape na lang daw kami.
"Imagine ka-lalaking tao pero ‘yun pinagsinasabi niya sa babae hindi honorable," she blurts out. "He’s disrespectful to women."
Of Mara, Arnold’s girlfriend and the daughter of Maria Isabelle Lopez, Ellen says pointblank: "Sexy ang katawan pero hipon."
She further dishes out, "What’s worse than being called bad breath and may putok? Sabi ni Gino sa akin [the smell] tipong talagang it goes straight to your brain."
She denies sharing intimate moments with boyfriend Filo Cucueco in the show. "My gulay!" she exclaims, "‘Yun ‘yung last thing na maisip mo. Walang pagkain, walang ligo, you cannot even wash. Nakaka conscious nga even ‘yung makipag-usap lang."
Her relationship with the other castaways is pretty solid, she says. She considers Angelika Schmeing, Jackie Forster and Steph Henares as friends. And her bets are either Mae Bautista or Betong Sumaya from her tribe, Tala, or KC Montero from Bulan.
